Schack Art Center Presents: Salmon School Ambassadors
Salmon School Ambassadors, on exhibit January 10 through February 23, 2019, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Artist Joseph Rossano has been working tirelessly to bring attention to the diminishing salmon population in the Pacific Northwest, specifically the Skagit River. Once numbering in the millions, the Skagit's salmon stocks now number barely in the tens of thousands. Rossano has spearheaded a project, School, that helps cast light on this environmental tragedy and brings together artists from across the globe. School: The Joseph Rossano Salmon Project, on view at Bellevue Arts Museum April 12 - August 11, 2019, features a life-size school of mirrored salmon, sculpted from molten glass by participating glassmakers, as well as first hand video accounts from renowned scientists.
Schack Art Center is celebrating the activists/artists who have volunteered their time to the School project. Salmon School Ambassadors, on exhibit January 10 through February 23, 2019, allows us to thank these artists for their advocacy and showcases their individual creative talents.
