Skate America Brings Olympic Stars to Seattle NorthCountry
Author: Richard Porter
This October, 60 world-class figure skaters from around the globe will flock to Seattle NorthCountry to compete with choreography and athleticism on ice.
The three-day Skate America event is open to the public and offers competition in ladies, men, pairs and ice dance.
The performers from China, Germany, Japan, Belgium, and Russia are at the top of their field. Some of them you probably already know from past Olympics performances: athletes like nine-time U.S. champion Michelle Kwan and two-time world champion Kristi Yamaguchi.
The event is part of the 2018 Grand Prix Series. As part of the tour the athletes will also be stopping in France, Canada, and other places around the globe. The Skate America performance in Everett, Washington, some 15 minutes north of Seattle, is strategic: it’s the place that holds the record for highest attendance levels for a Skate America event stateside.
In Everett you can enjoy Olympics-quality performances without the long lines, backed up hotels, or jammed hotels that accompany international competitions and travel.
