A traditional fall ritual is the search for the right pumpkin-taking a country drive, enjoying the changing foliage and celebrating the change of season with some roadside treats, or walking through a field of colorful gourds and squash.
Grocers have piles of pumpkins, but there is nothing like wandering a pumpkin patch to get people in the mood for the fall harvest season. Check below for hours. All pricing and hours are subject to change. Here is a listing of local patches and stands:

Biringer Farm Hwy 529, Between Everett & Marysville 425-259-0255 Directions: From I-5 take Marysville exit 199 and go east off of ramp. Take right at State Street, right on Hwy 529 S, right 50 feet past 2nd bridge to the farm gate.  Hours: Oct 1- October 31 daily, special activities with fees on weekends only. Sat/Sun hours 10-5pm. From Highway 9 go east on Broadway for 2 miles, left onto Elliott Road, farm is one mile on right.  Hours: October - Weekdays 10:00am - 7:00pm, weekends 9:00am - 7:00pm Description: Vast selection of u-pick pumpkins in many different colors, shapes and sizes. Space Needle themed 10 acre Corn Maze, $7, $6, $30 family in the daytime. Nightly charge $10, $9, $40 family. Groups welcome during the week with reservations. Onsite parking and restrooms available.
Carleton Farm 830 Sunnyside Blvd SE, Everett 425-334-2297 Directions: I-5 exit 194 to Hwy 2 east. Left onto Hwy 204, take 1st or 2nd left to get to Sunnyside Blvd.  Hours: October 9:00am - dusk daily, special activities on weekends only Description: Choose from a huge crop of pumpkins and gourds in our old-fashioned pumpkin patch. Visit the chickens and goats, and shop a wide variety of produce, marinades and other goodies in the farm store. The Time Machine corn maze is an engaging activity for all ages. Only on weekends: shoot the pumpkin cannon, take a hayride to the field and enjoy hot corn-on-the-cob or a hotdog from the snack bar. Free onsite parking and restrooms available.
Craven Farm 13817 Short School Road Snohomish 360-568-2601 Directions: From Interstate 5. Take exit 194 marked Snohomish & Wenatchee (Hwy.2). Proceed east over the bridge, bear right following Hwy.2. Take the third exit marked 88th. Take a right into Snohomish. Turn left on Lincoln Street (First Heritage Bank is on the corner). Continue on Lincoln for 2 miles to "Y" in the road and bear right on Treosti Rd. The Craven Farm signs will mark the remaining one-mile.  Hours: October 9:30 to dusk daily, 11-4 on weekends. Description: 20+ acres. Pumpkins of all sizes and fall produce available including corn stalks, hay, and gourds. Onsite parking and restrooms available. Weekend hay rides, 15 acre corn maze, baby farm animals.
Fairbank Farm 15308 52nd Ave, Edmonds 425-743-3694 www.fairbankfarm.com Hours: 10-5pm, Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are required for weekdays. Description: The farm opens an animal barn and pumpkin fields on weekends in October for drop-in traffic. Those who want to buy pumpkins and see and pet chicks, ducklings, calves, sheep, goats, ponies, pigs, and rabbits are welcome and will enjoy their time at the farm. Upon entering each person receives a cup of animal food they can throw to the ducks and chickens in the chicken run. Parking is free, admission is $2.50 pp. Educational tours given to registered school groups on weekdays in October and April. (Tours must have a minimum of 8 children). In October the focus in on harvest and the children feed pumpkins to the pigs and are able to take a pumpkin home. Fee is $5 per child and adults are free. In April the children feed a baby cow or calf and the focus is on baby animals. The get to pet chicks and ducklings and learn about eggs. Fee is $5 per child, adults free.
The Farm at Swan's Trail 7301 Rivershore Rd, Snohomish 425-334-4124 Directions: From I-5 take Exit 194 to Hwy 2 east, on trestle look for signs for Homeacres Road, turn right and follow the signs. Hours: September - October 3:00pm to dusk on weekdays, 9:00am to dusk weekends. Weekday field trips by appt. Description: The pumpkin patch is a great outing for the entire family. While there, enjoy the three story hay maze and slide in the big red barn. Onsite parking and restrooms available. 12 acre Washington State Corn Maze features state landmarks with educational rest stations and scavenger hunt; petting farm, barn maze, wagon rides, putting course, $5 per person, $20 per family.

Hours: September - October 9:00am - dusk daily, special activities on weekends Description: Pumpkin patch is U-pick or We-pick and great family fun on a 4th generation farm. Free hay rides, story time, and puppet shows take place on weekends every hour on the hour. Five acre "Curious George Gets Lost" corn maze and giant corn maze. $5.50 ages 4 and older. Onsite parking and restrooms available.
Garden Treasures 3328 SR 530, Arlington. 360-435-9272 Directions: From I-5, take exit 208, only 1/2 mile east. Look for big red barn. Hours: Open daily 9am-6pm in summer. Call for fall hours. Description: Come explore our 6 acre U-pick garden. Our 4th year organic farm & U-pick. Over 100 varieties of crops open for U-Pick March-Dec. Certified organic & Salmon Safe Certified. 16,000 sq. feet of greenhouse production. Unique field provides a leisurely walk in any weather conditions. We also have a few greenhouses to pick your very own heirloom tomatoes, specialty cucumbers, fresh basil, or winter mix greens. Free harvest boxes and excellent tools for any type of harvesting. There are three picnic tables situated on a territorial view of the farm, in the shade of some big beautiful tree. In the fall we have u-pick pumpkins and a fall harvest medicine wheel.

Vegetable garden to explore. Hidden Bear Trail to Stamp Maze and Pumpkinland. Admission to U-pick patch is $2 per person. Pumpkins and gourds priced at $.50 and up. Weekday reservations are accepted for school groups.

Hours: late May - October 9:00am - 7:00pm daily, except Sundays 10:30-6:00 Description: Come select the perfect pumpkin Jack O'Lantern from acres of pumpkins. Visit the giant corn maze.
