Town of Darrington

(population 1,136)
This picturesque community was first established as a night camp for the wagon route linking the Monte Cristo mines to the Puget Sound area. Darrington is nestled at the base of the rugged North Cascade Mountains and is enclosed and protected by mountain barriers. Glacier Peak (elevation 10,541 feet), the highest point in Snohomish County, lies to the southeast.
Special note: Mt Baker Snoqualmie Forest had severe rain
in Oct 2003 which has resulted in many road and trail washouts
in some of wilderness areas beyond Darrington.
Some camping areas and trails may be
inaccessible for several years.

Hiking is also popular near Whitehorse Mountain (elevation 6,303 feet), the site of one of the lowest elevation glaciers in the lower 48 states, an exceptional short hike from town.
Visitors will enjoy the legendary Darrington Bluegrass Festival and the Wildflower Festival. The Bluegrass Festival is held the 3rd weekend of July; this 3-day event draws 5,000 fans and features world-renowned acts as well as a variety of regional talent. The Wildflower Festival is celebrated on the second weekend of June.
